Concealed Handgun Permit Law Set to take Effect

(Lincoln, NE) – Beginning January 2, 2007, Nebraska residents wishing to apply for a Concealed Handgun Permit will be able to do so. Applicants who have completed an approved Handgun Training & Safety Course, and completed a Concealed Handgun Permit Application, can present the application and necessary documentation in person during normal business hours to the Criminal Identification Division (CID) Office in Lincoln or any Troop Area Headquarters outside of Lincoln. Permit applicants can expect to receive their permit in the mail in approximately 10 days to two weeks.

Person’s applying for a Concealed Handgun Permit will need to bring with them:
• A completed & notarized Application Form
• Proper Identification
• Proof of Training
• Proof of Citizenship
• Proof of Vision
• Permit Fee

The addresses and locations of the Nebraska State Patrol Offices accepting applications for Concealed Handgun Permits beginning January 2, 2007, during normal business hours are listed below:

Troop B Headquarters 1401 Eisenhower Avenue, Norfolk
Troop C Headquarters 3431 Old Potash Highway, Grand Island
Troop D Headquarters 300 West South River Road, North Platte
Troop E Headquarters 4500 Avenue I, Scottsbluff

The Nebraska Unicameral passed LB454 which created the Concealed Handgun Permit Act. An individual may obtain a permit to carry a concealed handgun in accordance with the Concealed Handgun Permit Act.
