17 Candidates Apply for State Capitol Administrator Position

(Lincoln, Neb.) Gov. Mike Johanns announced today the list of candidates interested in serving as Nebraska’s State Capitol Administrator. A sub-committee of the State Capitol Commission will review the applications and on recommendation from the commission, the Governor will hold interviews. The administrator position was created by LB 439, also known as the Nebraska State Capitol Preservation and Restoration Act.

“This person will have an enormous responsibility in preserving one of the nation’s greatest architectural achievements for Nebraska residents and visitors,” Gov. Johanns said. “Our capitol is a source of pride for many and I look forward to receiving the commission’s recommendations and meeting with the finalists.”

The capitol administrator is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the capitol’s construction, preservation and restoration projects; managing the schedule and staff of the Office of the Capitol Commission; and assuring the highest quality product and efficient contract performance for each capitol or grounds maintenance project.

The Governor will schedule personal interviews with finalists in the coming weeks. The search for the capitol’s administrator may not be limited to those individuals who have applied as the Governor may also seek out additional qualified candidates.

Applicants include Raimi Ayodele of Sioux City, Iowa; Angie Feehan of Lincoln; Richard Hart of Omaha; Vance Hilbers of Omaha; Melissa Hofler of Plattsmouth; Dianne Koll of Lincoln; Deanna McKissack of Lincoln; Samuel Rajakumar of Lincoln; Michael Rindone of Lincoln; Robert Ripley of Lincoln; Carlos Sandoval of Lincoln; Alan Sasek of Lincoln; Daniel Schartz of Brady; Randall Swanson of Kansas City, Mo.; Son Tran of Lincoln; Maria Wietzkl of Weeping Water; and Olinda Wylie of Lincoln.
